GENERAL INSPECTIONS

Skydio X10 – General Inspection Settings

📍 Skydio X10 – General Inspection Quick Card

✅ Strategy Overview

Enable all three scan passes: Z (horizontal), Y (vertical front-facing), and X (vertical side-facing) for comprehensive 3D structure capture. This ensures top-down, head-on, and angular coverage for reconstruction, measurement, and documentation.

Activate Optimize X/Y to allow Skydio to dynamically adjust the drone’s heading within each vertical pass. This improves surface viewing angles, reduces redundant photo capture, increases variety in image perspectives, and often shortens total scan time.

Gimbal pitch should be set according to the type of structure: use 15° for general passes and 0° for vertical elements or when minimizing sky capture. For full coverage, overlap and altitude tiers should remain consistent across scan passes.

🔧 Recommended Settings

SettingRecommended
Scan Mode3D Capture
Scan PassesZ + Y + X
Z Gimbal Pitch15° to 0°, based on subject geometry
Front Overlap80–85%
Side Overlap70–75%
Speed2.5 m/s (slower if needed for complex areas)
⚠️ Field Notes: Ensure strong GPS lock (above 20 m AGL). Use the AR mesh in the Skydio Controller to verify coverage. If battery replacement is needed mid-scan, relaunch from the same position and orientation to maintain alignment.
