Fixing Blocked Navigation Through Doors in Realsee

This 33Visual explainer shows a quick way to fix blocked navigation inside a Realsee VR tour when users cannot move from one scan point to another through a doorway.

The Problem

Sometimes, after a space has been scanned in Realsee, navigation between scan points may be blocked. This often happens when a door was closed during capture, when a passage was obstructed, or when a transparent door is interpreted by the model as a barrier.

Realsee identifies this as a known issue: closed doors, blocked passages, and even transparent doors can restrict navigation inside a VR tour.

The Solution

The practical fix is to use Model Trim inside the Realsee console.

With Model Trim, the redundant fragment blocking the passage can be removed without rebuilding the entire model. Once applied, the doorway opens visually and navigation between scan points works again.

In this video, Martin Vargas shows how 33Visual uses Model Trim to fix a blocked doorway inside an existing Realsee model. This is especially useful when the model has already been captured and returning to the site is not practical.

Official Realsee Help Article

For the official Realsee explanation, see their help article: Why can’t I walk through doors in the VR tour?

This is a useful post-capture fix, but it should not replace good scanning practice. Whenever possible, doors, paths, and walkthrough routes should be handled correctly during capture. Model Trim is the backup solution when the issue is discovered after the model has already been created.
